A few blogs, recipes, and items that inspire me to elevate the everyday
BOOK: 15 Dogs. Oh my goodness you guys.. This book… I had heard about it a while ago from my Mother-in-law who said it was amazing but also very sad. It is the story of 15 dogs who are given human intelligence and ability to speak by two Gods who are wagering a bet. If you have ever had a dog as a pet or love animals, this book gives you poignant insight into their lives, habits and relationships. I was so enthralled I read it in two nights, staying up way past my bedtime. It’s seriously that good. And by the end of it I was actually talking to my dogs as if they could understand me. Haha.
RECIPE: Spring Celebration Salad from Green Kitchen Stories. I love a fresh, seasonal salad in the warmer months and this one looks very tempting.. Asparagus, potatoes, chives and a butter vinaigrette.. This salad would be perfect for a light weeknight dinner and maybe some leftovers for lunch the next day! Also.. butter vinaigrette? I’m officially intrigued.

SHOPPING: I was perusing the Aritzia website recently and came across a few items that caught my eye.. We are going to Invermere, BC for the Canada Day long weekend and I wanted to pick up a few summery pieces to wear while we are there. I ordered this white lace blouse, this grey linen dress, and this casual chambray dress with awesome pockets. This grey cami is super cute and feminine (and super on sale), this gauzy cotton dress looks so soft and comfy, and this blue pattern blouse would look so good with a pair of white skinnies!
I’m planning to hit up Nordstrom this weekend to pick up a swim suit and beach cover (and a swim suit for Emmylou) and we should be all set for Canada day! Seriously counting down the minutes. I love spending time there and now that Emmylou is a bit older it will be so exciting for her to experience all of the things we love about being there. The beach, going into town for gelato, and watching the fireworks on Canada day! It’s going to be amazing. Zach’s parents are also coming up for part of the time so they will be able to babysit while we escape for some alone time which is always nice to have when you have young kids!
