The Weekend Edit

A few blogs, recipes, and items that inspire me to elevate the everyday

PODCAST: Radio Headspace. Have you heard of the Headspace app? It uses meditation and mindfulness techniques to help train your mind for a healthier, happier, more enjoyable life. It’s one of the most downloaded apps in the world and especially popular among young professionals looking to tap into the proven benefits of meditation for both the personal and professional areas of their lives. Radio headspace is a podcast created by the same people who made the app. The final episode aired in April and I’m finally getting around to listening to them. I love to listen to podcasts while I’m out walking my dogs, and this one does not disappoint! The podcast covers a variety of topics like kindness, change, fear and stress and it’s the perfect thing to listen to when you want to chill while at the same time take a short, introspective journey.

RECIPE: We are heading to the mountains in Invermere, B.C. for the Canada Day long weekend. My in-laws have a place there so we try to go up a couple times a year at least, and will probably start going more often as Emmylou gets older. It’s amazing there and I couldn’t be more excited about this trip. They have a fire pit in the backyard, so we were thinking that some s’mores might be in order.. I came across this blog post for 12 Creative S’mores for a Party from Kitchn and oh my goodness.. I want all of them!

SHOPPING: I love the effortless fun and comfortable style that a summer wardrobe embodies. My go to summer uniform these days seems to be a casual dress and some type of sandal – flat if I’m just running some errands or playing with Emmylou, or a comfortable wedge if I need something a bit more dressy. I am loving this off-the-shoulder chambray dress, this Free People slip dress in either blue or ivory, this eyelet trim romper, this classic boat neck navy dress (looks so comfy), and this gorgeous handkerchief dress. I’ve been keeping my eye out for a new pair of lace-ups and these ones as well as these ones both caught my attention. I also love these fringe lace-ups! So fun.

Hope you all have a wonderful Canada Day/Fourth of July long weekend filled with friends, family and maybe some s’mores!
