Stripes and shorts.. official summer uniform

This is a weird thing to say.. But the article of clothing I identify the most with is a navy and white stripped shirt. I once accidentally read a book called “How to dress like a cool French mom,” and as it turns out, cool French moms are constantly wearing navy stripped shirts as well! Coincidence? Je pense que non… If I’m ever in a situation where I don’t know what to wear, more often then not, I pull out a navy and white stripped shirt from my sizeable collection, accessorize accordingly, and I’m good to go! For Zach’s birthday dinner a couple of weeks ago, I wasn’t feeling the dress I had chosen to wear, so out came the skinny jeans, pink ballet flats, and a stripped three quarter length tee. The downside to this, of course, is that I become delirious whenever I see a navy stripped shirt when I am shopping and have to talk myself down from buying it because I have approximately 30 already… It’s a loosing battle.

Warm summer weekends are the perfect environment for a navy stripped tee.. dress it down with jean shorts or yoga pants, or up with a cute skirt or nice pair of linen shorts. I also love adding a pink detail here or there.. I have a pink infinity scarf from H&M that works well with almost any look involving a stripped shirt, as well as a pair of shimmery pink ballet flats that add a little visual interest to the look.

For this day I went super casual because we were on vacation in the mountains and I was also pretty sick so I just wanted something easy and comfortable, but still cute. I paired the shirt (similar here, here, here, here) with a simple pair of jean shorts, birkinstocks, a small light brown tassel bag, and brown sunglasses. My necklace is from Sarah Perlis Jewelry. I love her stuff. It is so unique and all handmade to order. Ahh.. I love summer! I wish I could magically slow it down or extend it until at least.. oh I don’t know.. November?
