White on white

So I’m currently sitting at Starbucks, sipping on a flat white and waiting to pick up Emmylou from daycare. We’re heading to the East Coast tonight for a little trip to visit my family. It’s my Grandmother’s 80th birthday and I will be celebrating my birthday while I am there as well. I told my mom all I want to do to celebrate is have a lobster dinner (fresh lobster is hard to come by in land-locked Calgary and very expensive if you do!). So my big plans for the trip are: Go to the beach, eat lobster, hang out with the fam, and maybe head into the city one day and do some exploring. I’m expecting things to be a bit challenging as I am traveling with a toddler who is in the middle of potty training and whose mood is impossible to predict from one moment to the next… but such is life! I’m sure we’ll have a fabulous time! Zach was going to try to make it out next weekend depending on some work stuff, but it looks like he won’t be able to after all so it’s a girls trip!

This past weekend was spent mostly at the park with a bit of packing and cleaning and approximately 500 loads of laundry thrown in. Seriously – potty training a toddler means our work is totally cut out for us in the laundry department. All day, everyday.

On Sunday I threw on some simple white jean shorts and a super comfy white cotton blouse I got on sale at Aritzia a few weeks ago. Shoes are Tieks, purse is Forever 21. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why in the world are you wearing so much white? You have a TWO year old (and two dogs!). I love wearing white. I admit, I avoided it for a while after Emmylou was born because I figured I would wear it for five minutes, she would ruin it, and it would end up in the trash – BUT I’ve since realized that life is too short! If I love wearing white I’m gonna wear it regardless of my clothes-getting-ruined-by-toddler anxiety. And so far it hasn’t gone too poorly. I do have a pair of white jeans that she pretty consistently manages to get dirty every time I wear them but no one seems to notice! Or if they do, they are just too polite to say anything…
