The Weekend Edit: Fall Edition

items-ideas-inspiration-all-about-fall

In honour of the arrival of my favourite season, I wanted to dedicate this week’s Items, ideas & inspiration to everything fall. Before I get started, I have one disclosure to make. Although I love Starbucks, fall and especially pumpkin, I have NEVER had a pumpkin spice latte! I know, I know, quelle horreur! Perhaps it’s because I have my favourites at Starbucks that I tend to stick to (perhaps it’s because I accidentally read the sugar content in one of those things) – I don’t know why to be honest, but pumpkin spice and everything nice does not apply to me, for now… However, I’m so down with all the other aspects of fall that make it a popular season for people who actually ENJOY talking about the weather, like myself.

Let’s start with the weather, shall we? It’s cool, it’s crisp, it’s cloudy – it’s officially sweater weather in the Northern Hemisphere! Sweaters, scarves, over-the-knee boots – I can’t get enough! And baking is just so much better when it’s cold. Cookies, apple tarts, banana bread – there’s nothing like whipping up some comforting fare on a cool fall afternoon. I also love adding a few fall touches to my home. I try not to get too over the top (that’s saved for Christmas), but a few fall accents here and there can be so much fun.

First off, here are some fall inspired reads to get you in a festive mood:

I’ve been eyeing these Diptyque candles for a while now… They’re quite pricy, but I have a gift card for a local store that carries them so I’m hoping to pick up a couple soon.

SHOPPING: Zach is taking Emmylou to Arizona for a few days next week, and one of my plans while they’re gone is to hit up Nordstrom because I need some new boots! I just ordered these Hunter Shearling winter boots (they are super on sale) and I’m actually excited for snow so I can wear them… But for now, I need some tall boots for fall! I love these grey suede over-the-knee ones with a bit of a heel, and these grey-suede over-the-knee ones with less of a heel (you need to have options… lol). I also think I need these Frye boots in the lighter cognac in my life… These cut-out lace-up sandals in plum are perfect for transitioning into the colder weather, and these grey wedge booties are super cute, come in SEVEN colours, and are a great price. This plaid blanket scarf is definitely a must-have (says the girls who owns 700 scarves). Speaking of scarves, I also love this orange plaid triangle scarf for fall. I LOVE this navy hobo. This oversized knit cardigan looks so cozy and warm.
