It’s Monday! Can you believe it? Where does the weekend go! Mine was spent soaking up the beautiful fall weather we’ve been having, doing a little shopping, and watching way too much Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (I don’t get many channels and I like watching food on TV…). I also attended my first CFL game on Saturday (Canadian Football League), which was fun, but SO SO cold. My Mother-in-law warned me to wear a winter coat. I didn’t listen. I should have listened. And I was already feeling the beginnings of a sore throat coming on, so sitting in the sub-zero temps was especially miserable… But I admit, it was nice to cozy up under a blanket and sip hot chocolate – and our team won!
Other than that things were pretty quiet around here. Emmylou was acting especially two-nager (like teenager, but of the toddler variety) ish and straight up refused to nap either Saturday or Sunday. Saturday I managed to get her to sleep for about an hour, after about two hours of struggle, and Sunday no nap at all! She is usually so good at taking a nap so not sure what the deal was. Then on Sunday night around 11, she woke up crying, which she never does anymore, so I went in to check on her. What was the big deal you ask? She had lost one of her socks. Haha. So I helped her find it, then went to change her diaper because it was quite wet, and quickly realized there were no new diapers to be found! We were totally out. Parents of the year over here… She is doing really well with potty training during the day – even during her naps – but no where close to being ready for overnights without a diaper. But having absolutely no idea what to do, I put undies on her, put her potty beside her bed, and told her if she had to pee to get up and use it. Well of course at 2am I get woken up to crying and ‘mama, mama my bed is all wet!’ So I head in, change her sheets, and search one more time for diapers… and there are still none to be found. But I did find a few swim diapers (that were a few sizes to small…) so I put one of those on her, put her back in bed, and exhaustedly went back to bed myself. Thankfully the too small swim diaper lasted her through the rest of the night. Now I just need to remember to pick up diapers today! Lol.
On to this look! I actually picked up these shoes on sale at Nordstrom for my Halloween costume, but I’m totally in love with them. They are super comfy and easy to walk in, and perfect for fall! I also love these and these similar options. I was going for a fall date-night vibe here. This sweater is super cozy, but it has cut-out detailing on the sleeves to elevate it enough to wear on a date. I paired it with some black skinnies from H&M (great price and great fit), a cocktail ring from Stella and Dot, and an oversized clutch from H&M (sold out, but also love this option and this option).
I love this time of year because it’s chilly, but not chilly enough to have to wear the parka and clunky winter boots. You can show off your outfit and still be cozy, warm and stylish. I’m hoping we get a few more weeks (at least) of this weather before the cold sets in!
