Knit turtleneck sweater and getting holiday ready

We’re almost a month away from Christmas! Can you believe it? I am so excited for the next several weeks. We have holiday parties, trips to see friends, and several festive outings planned which has definitely got me in the holiday spirit! This past weekend we took Emmylou to Zach’s kids Christmas party which was really fun. They had an amazing brunch spread, gifts for all the kids, a cookie decorating station (with sprinkles – which might have been the highlight of her life so far), and of course, Santa. But the Santa thing didn’t go so well. She’s pretty shy and was totally distraught at the idea of sitting with this random dude in weird clothes…. haha. So we just stood beside him and he tried to talk to her with mixed results. Maybe if I just keep bringing her to visit mall Santas every weekend, by Christmas she’ll actually sit on their lap and we can at least get one good photo. It’s not going to come easy though…

We’re also finally experiencing some colder weather so I’m all about cozy sweaters and scarves. I’ve had my eye on this one for a couple of months, you may remember that I had included the baby blue version in in a couple of my Items, Ideas and Inspiration posts, but when I finally decided to order it I went with the berry colour because I own so much blue and I liked this colour for the holidays. I’m super in love with it – it’s uber cozy and soft – and now I’m thinking of ordering it in cream to take on a couple of our upcoming trips to the mountains and BC. There’s nothing better than finding the perfect oversized cream sweater to get you through the colder months!

We’ve also decided against getting a Christmas tree again this year after much deliberation. We haven’t had one since we moved into this house 3 years ago, but we’re going to Victoria for Christmas so there’s not really much of a point. And also we’re lazy… Haha. Part of me is sad because I have such fond memories of sitting in my living room when I was a kid with the tree all lit up and the presents beneath – but we’re spending Christmas Eve through boxing day with Zach’s sis in Victoria and she assures us she will have a tree at least.

As for the rest of this outfit, you’re probably tired of seeing these boots but I honestly can’t stop wearing them. They are so comfy and match everything I own. I have, however, been keeping my eye out for a tighter pair of grey or black over-the-knee boots. I’m thinking if I can find a good deal this weekend on black Friday I might pick up a pair to switch things up a bit. This bag is also super versatile and a great price point (it also come in a gorgeous faded burgundy). These jeans are currently my favourite pair I own. I love the wash and the fit. And I’m wearing these burgundy earrings from H&M.
