The Weekend Edit

TV SHOW: Gilmore Girls. Obviously. I didn’t watch the original series in its entirety (just a few episodes here and there) but this Netflix re-boot has been so hyped that I couldn’t help but get excited! I’ve just watched the first episode so far, but I really enjoyed it. And it’s nice to have something to watch when Zach is busy with homework (he obviously isn’t watching it with me… lol). I love that now Rory is 32, the age Lorelai was when the show started – and of course the witty banter and endless pop culture references! I’m hoping to watch one more episode this weekend (actually I’m hoping to spend all day Sunday on the couch eating pancakes and drinking coffee while binge watching the whole season… in another life perhaps).

RECIPE: Cinnamon, orange, and hazelnut morning buns from Hint of Vanilla. There is nothing I love more than a lazy weekend morning spent sipping coffee while Emmylou watches cartoons. And these AH-mazing looking morning buns would be the perfect addition to this cherished weekend ritual. The flavors of orange and hazelnut are perfect for this time of year (as are baked good – let’s be honest). And Emmylou is obsessed with using the rolling pin lately so the fact that you have to roll these out and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar (another toddler friendly task) is a bonus as well!

SHOPPING: It’s Thanksgiving weekend in the US which means, of course, that EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE is on sale… or so it seems! Which works for me because we have a couple of trips planned in December – a weekend mountain escape earlier in the month, and a long drive all the way to the coast to spend Christmas with Zach’s sister in Victoria later in the month – so I’m looking for a few festive pieces to take! I’m looking for a comfy pair of booties to wear for the drives and walking around on the trips.

I like this grey suede pair with a shorter heel, these grey suede ones with a taller heel and cute cutout details, and this grey suede pair of Toms which are a great price right now (and I always find Toms so comfy!). I also wanted to pack a lighter jacket that I could wear with huge scarfs and furry mittens because it will be a bit warmer in Victoria so I ordered this faux leather cropped moto in the slate colour and I am LOVING it. I’ve been wearing it with this navy turtleneck (great quality and price and comes in six colours) and this super cozy grey scarf from H&M. Since I’m apparently obsessed with turtlenecks now, I’ve also been eying this green one and this burgundy one (all about the festive colours). I’d like a new pair of tights as well and am loving these faux suede ones from Aritzia and these velvet ones are so gorgeous!
